Every mother and newborn is different, and though people often share the same kinds of problems, the solution is rarely the same. Gladys Care 1987 works with you — therapist and mummy together — to find the most effective personal route to recovery.
Maternal health is the health of women during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. Postnatal care covers recovery from childbirth, newborn care, nutrition, breastfeeding, and family planning — and every mother’s needs are different.
A confinement nanny, or “Pei Yue” (陪月), is a lady helper who supports mothers through the prenatal period, the postnatal period after delivery, and as a babysitter once mummy returns to the workforce.
Prenatal Period
Needed when mummy’s first trimester is diagnosed with a low placenta or spotting. The nanny prepares healthy, nutritious meals and soups so mummy stays strong and the placenta can move up as baby grows.
Postnatal Period
The body goes through enormous hormonal and physical changes after birth — the uterus shrinks back, blood volume returns to normal, and hormone shifts may bring postnatal blues or hair loss. Confinement care nurses mummy’s body back to health with baby care support.
Return to Work
For parents returning to the workforce, a babysitter watches and plays with baby, settles them to sleep, and cooks soft pureed food from 6–8 months. Available live-in, live-out, or daily drop-off at the nanny’s house.
A full range of support so the new mother can focus on rest and recovery.
Cooking for mummy and making tonic after 12 days
Preparing herbal baths and bathing baby daily
Assisting mummy with breastfeeding and night feeds
Caring for baby so the new mother can rest
Laundry for mother and baby
Keeping the kitchen and utensils clean, light household chores
Doing marketing / grocery runs when needed
Cost depends on the length of engagement, live-in vs live-out arrangements, and any specialised care needs. Message Gladys directly for a personalised quote based on your situation.
Most engagements run for the traditional 28-day confinement period, though many families extend this to cover the full 30–40 day recovery window, or engage a nanny earlier for prenatal support.
A live-in nanny stays at your home around the clock, offering continuous overnight support. A live-out nanny comes for set hours each day and returns home in the evening. Both options are available depending on your household’s needs.
Most families book around their second or third trimester to secure their preferred dates and nanny match, though last-minute and early-delivery arrangements can also be accommodated.
The nanny’s cooking focuses on confinement meals and tonics prepared specifically for the new mother’s recovery, though many nannies are happy to help with light meal prep for the household too — this can be discussed upfront.
